Music Events – Week #1 – presented by Kick Drum
Looking to spice up your weeknights with something a little out of the ordinary? Check out our hand-picked list of events happening in independent cafes across Montréal this coming week.
The bohemian and Berri-UQAM-adjacent L’Escalier will be hosting the pan-African via south of France stylings of Kaluwo on Thursday night. Overlapping polyrhythms, call and response, and chant should set your mind at ease as the on-tap kombucha and hippie-leaning clientele reminds you of L’Escalier’s student-y surroundings. Plus, an inordinate amount of couches.
L’Escalier – 552 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est

The always inspired Kalmunity Jazz Project continues its residency at Resonance Cafe on Sunday, delivering 100% improvised sets at the intersection of hip-hop, jazz, reggae and soul. Eat some chili, enjoy a smoothie and listen to some of the bests musicians in Montréal do their thing.
