Music Events – Week #2 – presented by Kick Drum

By the time you read this it might not be so hot, but right now the heat is pilfering blood sugar and brain power from our bodies and all I can think about is lemonade lemonade lemonade. With that in mind, here are a handful of events at cafes known to make mean iced drinks this time of year, that and good music to cure your heatwave blues.

8/21 Mike Mckenna Jr. + Jessie Daniel Smith + Monika Cefis @ Santropol
A conversational exchange between songwriters as Kick Drum takes over *the* neighborhood haunt, Santropol, for the second edition of its Songwriter’s Circle. Singers take turns playing songs and telling stories in an intimate venue–like trading back and forth an acoustic in your backyard.

8/22 Chronicle Infinitas @ Resonance
Haunting, ascendant, gorgeous music from a local sextet sure to stimulate and sooth at noted vegan jazz hang, Resonance. Chronicle Infinitas make music serving as “meditations on kindness and no separation.”

8/25 Ocean Charter of Values + King Fang @ Le Cagibi
Haligonian drone from Year of Glad collaborator, Nicholas Laugher, “musings on drinking red wine in fish shacks” and the sound of open fields–Ocean Charter of Values joins the new project of lo-fi prince Expwy, King Fang, to play hot weather music for your Tuesday.
